Quadcopter

A quadcopter, also called a quadrotor helicopter is a multirotor helicopter that is lifted and propelled by four rotors. In this competition, we will test the participants on their skills in controlling the quadcopter. A series of obstacles will be set and the participants need to fly the quadcopter through those obstacles and land safely.

Rules and Regulations

A. General Information and Agenda

A1. Dates and Venue:

Date: 20th November 2015 – 22nd November 2015
Venue: Dewan Utama, USM Engineering Campus

A2. Champions

The winner of the competition will be based on:
-Shortest time taken to finish the race.

A3. Schedule

The schedule is set as shown below:

Briefing                               15 mins
Game testing                     30 mins
Competition                       1 hour
Results and prize               20 mins


Briefing of the game will be including how to play the game, rules and regulation. Game testing session is to allow participants to have trial before the competition. Any damage on quadcopter can be repaired during game testing session. As stated above, winner of competition will be based on the time taken to finish the race.


B. Entrance requirement

B1. Pilot Qualifications

Each team consists of maximum 4 person. Pilot can be changed anytime in the competition but the time will still be counted.

B2. Quadcopter Requirement

Size/Frame : F450 with a maximum length of 72cm long, 30 cm height.
***Quadcopter must be self-fabricated/assemble and self-programme.

B3. Sequence of quadcopter competitors

The sequence will be assigned by organiser once the participants are confirmed.


C. Operational Rules

C1. Briefing

A short briefing on rules and regulations will be held before the competition commences and all team members must attend this briefing.

C2. Penalties and Disqualifications

Any team fails to obey any rules and regulations will be penalised and disqualified for the competition.


D. The sequence of the race
              
Pass through all the obstacles according to the path created as show in Figure below.


  1. Starting point the one with numbered 0.
  2. If the quadcopter fell off any obstacles, they have to start all the way from the start point or landing area depends on where the quadcopter fell: 

  • Quadcopter A fell off at obstacle 4, they have to start from the landing area number 3.
  • Quadcopter B fell off at obstacle 2, they have to start from the starting point.


Each group will be given 2 chances to race. The shortest time will be taken as final result.

·        Champion: Cash (RM500) + Certificate of Participation + Medal
·        1st runner up: Cash (RM300) + Certificate of Participation + Medal
·        2nd runner up: Cash (RM100) + Certificate of Participation + Medal
